FAQs

Does the typing/skill test affect my final merit rank?

No — the Phase II Computer Skill Test is qualifying only (pass/fail based on minimum typing speed); your final merit and selection is based entirely on the Phase I CBT score.

What typing speed do I need to clear the skill test?

A minimum of 35 words per minute in English, or 30 words per minute in Hindi, on a computer.

How many marks are deducted for a wrong answer?

Each question is worth 4 marks, and 1 mark (1/4 of that) is deducted for every wrong answer — so it's the standard 25% negative-marking ratio, just scaled up because each question is worth more than the usual 1 mark.

Who is exempt from the application fee?

SC, ST, PwBD, female, and ex-servicemen candidates are fully exempt from the Rs. 700 fee that General/OBC/EWS candidates must pay.
