FAQs

Why is there no negative marking in Session I but there is in Session II?

SSC's current MTS pattern only penalizes wrong answers in Session II (General Awareness + English); Session I (Numerical Ability + Reasoning) is scored purely on correct answers with no penalty for wrong attempts, so guessing is safer there.

What's different about the Havaldar post compared to regular MTS posts?

Havaldar (in CBIC/Central Board of Narcotics) candidates go through the same written exam but additionally must clear a Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test — a requirement that doesn't apply to general MTS posts.

Can I skip Session I if I only care about my Session II score?

No — both sessions are compulsory in the same sitting; not attempting either session disqualifies you regardless of how well you do in the other.

Is SSC MTS available in regional languages?

Yes — Session I and the General Awareness portion of Session II are offered in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages, though the English Language section itself is tested in English.
