FAQs

Do Prelims marks count toward the final IBPS PO merit list?

No. Prelims is only a qualifying/shortlisting stage — only Mains (objective + descriptive) marks, combined with interview marks, decide the final merit list.

Is there a sectional cutoff in IBPS PO Prelims?

Yes, candidates must clear both the sectional cutoff in each of the three Prelims sections and the overall cutoff to be shortlisted for Mains.

What happens if I skip the Descriptive Test in Mains?

The Descriptive Test (Essay & Comprehension) is qualifying in nature but mandatory — skipping it or scoring below the qualifying threshold can disqualify you even if your objective score is strong.

Has Computer Aptitude been removed as a separate Mains section?

Yes, per the 2026 revised pattern, Computer Aptitude is no longer a standalone Mains section; Data Analysis & Interpretation and General/Economy/Banking/Digital Awareness are the current sections alongside Reasoning and English.
