CBT: 90 minutes. · Negative Marking: -1/3 mark per wrong answer in the CBT. · Passing Marks: Minimum qualifying percentage in CBT: UR/EWS/OBC(NCL) 35%, SC/ST 30%. Final selection beyond this is by normalized merit, not a fixed cutoff.

SectionDetails
CBT120 questions/120 marks — General Awareness 50, Arithmetic 35, General Intelligence & Reasoning 35
PET/PMTQualifying only — running, height/chest measurements per category and gender norms (varies by post, e.g. Constable vs Sub-Inspector)

Fee, CBT structure (120Q/120 marks/90 min, -1/3 negative marking), and qualifying percentages agree across multiple secondary sources (secondary sources, moderate-high confidence); an official RRB CEN RPF 02/2024 objection-tracker PDF was located at rrbcdg.gov.in but not opened directly.

Source & Verification

NoteRPF Constable recruitment for Railways has historically run through the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) via a Centralized Employment Notice (CEN); the most recent completed cycle is CEN RPF 02/2024 (notified 14 Apr 2024, 4,208 Constable vacancies across all RRBs, final panel declared 16 Feb 2026) — all figures below are taken directly from that official CEN PDF.Multiple 2026 news reports indicate RPF Constable recruitment has since been transferred to the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) under the RPF (Amendment) Rules, 2025, and that this would be the first cycle conducted by SSC — but as of 03 Sep 2026 no fresh SSC-run RPF Constable notification has been published, so this entry uses the last real, completed RRB cycle rather than inventing figures for an unannounced exam.Check rpf.indianrailways.gov.in and ssc.gov.in for the next cycle.

FAQs

Do I get my fee back if I pay but then don't sit for the exam?

No, the partial/full refund is only processed for candidates who actually appear for the CBT — skipping the exam forfeits the fee.

Is the PET/PMT scored, or just pass/fail?

It's qualifying only (pass/fail) — your PET/PMT performance doesn't add marks to your CBT score or merit rank, it's just a gate you must clear.

Are RPF Constable and RPF Sub-Inspector the same recruitment exam?

No, they are typically separate CENs (notifications) with somewhat different PET/PMT physical standards and pay scales, even though both are conducted via RRB/RPF.

If a vacancy gets cancelled after I've paid the fee, do I get a refund?

No, per RPF recruitment rules, fees are not refunded if notified vacancies are cancelled, nor for rejected or incomplete applications.
