Exam Pattern

Some details below are not confirmed — check the official notification ↗

Not confirmed The exam pattern below has not been confirmed from the official notice currently available to GovBabu — it may change.

CBT: 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates). · Negative Marking: -1/3 mark per wrong answer; no deduction for unattempted/blank questions. · Passing Marks: N/A — merit-based/normalized ranking across shifts; no fixed qualifying percentage confirmed for this post in the sources checked.

SectionDetails
CBT100 questions/100 marks — Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness (Technician Grade I / Signal posts additionally include a Technical/discipline-specific component within or alongside this CBT)

Fee structure and CBT pattern (100Q/100 marks/90 min, -1/3 negative marking) agree across multiple secondary sources (secondary sources, moderate-high confidence). An official CEN 02/2025 PDF for Technician categories was located at rrbsecunderabad.gov.in but not opened directly — treat exact section-wise split and any qualifying percentage as unconfirmed pending that document.

Not yet confirmedThese are shown with a “Not confirmed” tag. Check them on the official notification before relying on them.
NoteConfirmed directly from the official Detailed CEN No. 02/2026 PDF (hosted on the RRB Thiruvananthapuram zonal site, one of several official mirrors listed in the CEN itself) — this is unusually well-sourced for a GovBabu entry, with vacancy count, pay levels, fee, eligibility, and photo/signature specs all read directly from the primary document rather than secondary aggregation. The one genuine gap: CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination dates are not yet announced by RRB as of this writing (04 Sep 2026) — the CEN itself states these will be notified later via RRB websites/SMS/email, so no date should be assumed or guessed for these stages.

FAQs

Is there a separate CBT-2 for Technician like there is for NTPC or JE?

No, most Technician posts (Grade III) have only a single-stage CBT; Grade I/Signal posts may have additional technical requirements but sources do not confirm a distinct second CBT stage.

Do Technician posts require a physical test like Group D?

No, based on available sources Technician recruitment does not include a PET — selection is CBT followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Are the fee and refund rules the same as other RRB exams (NTPC, Group D)?

Yes, the Rs 500/Rs 250 fee structure with partial/full refund on appearing for CBT is consistent with other RRB-conducted recruitment.

Does Technician Grade I (Signal) have a different, harder exam than Grade III?

Sources indicate Grade I/Signal includes an additional technical-discipline component, making it more specialized than Grade III's general-subjects-only paper, but the exact question split was not independently confirmed here.
