FAQs
Why does Paper II test only English, when Paper I already has an English section?
SSC CPO recruits for Sub-Inspector roles that involve report writing and documentation, so Paper II is a deeper, dedicated test of English comprehension and language proficiency beyond the general-aptitude English tested in Paper I.
When does the Physical Efficiency Test happen relative to the written exams?
PET/PST is conducted after Paper I (which is used to shortlist candidates) and before Paper II; you must clear the physical standards to be considered for Paper II and the subsequent Medical Test.
Is the negative marking the same across both papers?
Yes — both Paper I and Paper II deduct 0.25 marks per wrong answer, unlike some other SSC exams where negative marking differs by paper.
Do all posts under SSC CPO (Delhi Police SI vs CAPF SI) follow the same exam pattern?
Yes — the written exam pattern (Paper I, Paper II) is common to both Delhi Police and CAPF Sub-Inspector posts; differences arise mainly in physical standards and the specific force/cadre allocation after selection.
