FAQs

Is SSC GD Constable purely a written-test recruitment, or is physical fitness also tested?

Both — after clearing the CBT (this written test), shortlisted candidates go through PET/PST (running, height/chest measurements) and a medical exam; the written exam alone doesn't guarantee selection.

How costly is a wrong guess in SSC GD compared to SSC CGL Tier I?

Less costly — SSC GD deducts only 0.25 marks per wrong answer (1/8 of a full 2-mark question), versus 0.50 in SSC CGL Tier I, so calculated guessing carries somewhat lower risk here.

Can I choose to answer in Hindi?

Yes — the English/Hindi section name reflects that the whole paper (not just one section) is available bilingually in English and Hindi, and in several other regional languages depending on the notification year.

Does the CBT score decide the final merit, or does PET/PST also carry weight?

PET/PST is qualifying (pass/fail on measurements and a timed run) and does not add marks — final merit for SSC GD Constable is based on the CBT score among candidates who clear PET/PST and the medical exam.
