Remove the password from a PDF you already know the password for, so it can be uploaded or combined with other files.

How to use
- Click the upload box and choose the PDF.
- Type the PDF’s password.
- Click “Unlock & download”.
What to expect
- Each file can be up to 15 MB.
- The correct password is required. This tool cannot recover a forgotten password or open a PDF without it.
- If the password is wrong, you are told so and can try again.
- The result is rebuilt from page images, so text inside the original PDF will not be selectable or searchable.
- This tool loads the open-source pdf.js reader from a public CDN the first time it is used; that fetches the reader code, not your file.
Common questions
Can it unlock a PDF if I have forgotten the password?
No. It needs the correct password to open the file, and then saves a copy that no longer asks for one.
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The password is used by your browser to open the file on your own device and is not sent to GovBabu servers.
Why can I not select text in the unlocked PDF?
The unlocked copy is rebuilt from page images, so the text is visible but is no longer real text.
