FAQs

Is there negative marking in the MPPSC Prelims exam?

No — per current secondary sources, MPPSC does not deduct marks for wrong answers in the Prelims stage, unlike UPSC and several other state PSCs.

Do I need separate registration and fee payment for Mains after clearing Prelims?

Yes. MPPSC runs Prelims and Mains as separate registration cycles with their own application fees, so clearing Prelims doesn't automatically carry your registration forward — you register and pay again for Mains.

Does the CSAT/Aptitude paper in Prelims count toward my score?

No, Paper II (General Aptitude Test) is qualifying-only — you just need 33% to pass; your actual Prelims rank is based solely on Paper I (General Studies) marks.

How many papers does the MPPSC Mains exam have, and are any of them optional-subject based?

MPPSC Mains has six papers, all compulsory General Studies/Hindi/Essay papers — unlike UPSC or BPSC, there's no optional-subject paper in the current MPPSC pattern.
