2 hours. · Negative Marking: 0.25 marks (1/4) deducted for every wrong answer; unattempted questions score 0. · Passing Marks: Fixed official qualifying mark of 33 out of 100 (33%) to qualify PET, per secondary sources — this is a genuine fixed threshold (not merit-only), consistent with PET's role as a qualifying screening test whose score is then used to apply for downstream UPSSSC recruitments.

Selection Process

Offline OMR-based objective (MCQ) test.PET itself is a qualifying screening exam — a passing PET score (valid for 3 years) is a prerequisite to apply for numerous UPSSSC/UP state Group C recruitments (including UP Lekhpal), not a recruitment exam in itself.

FAQs

Is UPSSSC PET itself a job recruitment exam?

No — PET is only a qualifying screening test. Clearing it (score valid for 3 years) makes you eligible to apply for a range of UP Group C/D posts (like UP Lekhpal, various UPSSSC recruitments), each of which has its own separate main exam and merit list.

What is the minimum score needed to qualify PET?

Secondary sources consistently report a fixed qualifying mark of 33 out of 100 (33%), regardless of category, though this should be verified against the latest official notification since it's a policy figure that could change.

How long is a PET score valid, and can I use one PET score for multiple recruitments?

A qualifying PET score is valid for 3 years and can be used to apply for multiple UPSSSC/UP state recruitments during that validity window, without needing to retake PET for each one.

Does PET have sectional negative marking or just an overall one?

Negative marking is applied per question across the whole paper (0.25 marks per wrong answer) rather than as separate sectional penalties, so a wrong guess in any section costs the same.
